About this bar
Jigger & Pony opened in May 2012 on Amoy Street and moved to a 130-seat room inside Amara Singapore in Tanjong Pagar in 2018. Co-founders Guoyi Gan and Indra Kantono built a classics-leaning cocktail bar around hospitality first, with Bar Programme Director Aki Eguchi shaping the seasonal menuzines that land every year or so. This profile covers what the room feels like, what to order from the current BLOOM menu, and how to book before a weekend night.
01
Our verdict on Singapore's best bar for 2026
Fourteen years after opening on Amoy Street, Jigger & Pony still reads as the reference point for Singapore cocktail culture rather than a museum piece. The Amara room is large and buzzy without feeling anonymous, the team switches easily between regulars and first-time visitors, and every menuzine lands with a clear point of view instead of a scatter of clever names. That consistency is why it has sat inside the Asia top 10 for eight consecutive years and why it keeps the Best Bar in Singapore title even as the city adds sharper competition. If you have one reservation on the island, make it here, and sit at the counter if you want to watch the drinks being built.
02
What to expect on your first visit
The bar occupies the ground floor of Amara Singapore on Tanjong Pagar Road, a few minutes on foot from Tanjong Pagar MRT. Inside you get low light, dark wood, and a long back bar that can feel like a hotel lounge until the room fills and the energy lifts. Counter seats face the working station and are the best choice for pairs; larger tables suit groups who plan to share punch bowls. Service is warm and unhurried, with staff happy to talk through the menuzine in English. Weekend nights run late on Wednesday to Saturday, so expect a wait at the door if you arrive without a booking after 21:00.
03
What to order at Jigger & Pony
The current BLOOM menuzine carries more than 24 cocktails, non-alcoholic serves, and sharing punches built around growth and transformation rather than one gimmick. Start with the yuzu whisky sour, the drink that made the bar's name, then move to the Soursop Colada for rum, soursop, yoghurt, lemon, egg white, and baijiu in one glass. The Strawberry Matcha Cloud pairs gin, strawberry milk punch, sherry, lemon, absinthe, and matcha cream for something brighter and viral without losing balance. Designated drivers should order the Osmanthus & Tea. If you are in a group, a punch bowl splits the cost across the table and sets the tone for the night.

05
How the bar builds its menuzines
Jigger & Pony treats each annual release as a researched magazine rather than a list swap. The team spends months testing iterations before a menuzine like BLOOM goes live, leaning on classic templates people already understand and pushing them through clarification, infusion, and careful garnish work rather than obscure spirits for their own sake. Bar Programme Director Aki Eguchi oversees programming across the Jigger & Pony Group, and the training culture explains why the room stays consistent at volume. Co-founder Guoyi Gan describes the house style as classics people recognise, rebuilt with technique until they taste new again.
06
Why Jigger & Pony is No.10 in Asia for 2026
Jigger & Pony sits at No.10 on our 2026 Asia ranking. At the Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026 ceremony in Macau on 28 July, it retained The Best Bar in Singapore 2026, sponsored by Back to the Roots. It has ranked inside the Asia top 10 for eight consecutive years, down from No.3 in 2025 but still ahead of every other Singapore room on the list. Nutmeg & Clove, Offtrack, and Origin Bar joined it among the island's four entries. Co-founder Indra Kantono also received the Roku Industry Icon Award 2026 at the same ceremony, recognising his influence on the wider region.
