The Cambridge Public House gives more flexibility. It is also in Le Marais and also opens daily from 3:00 pm to 1:00 am, but it welcomes walk-ins and offers table bookings through its website. The dress code is casual, which changes the feel of the brief. Use it when you need a room that can handle a slightly looser plan, or when your group may not arrive at the same minute.

Which 2nd arrondissement bars fit different briefs?

Use the 2nd arrondissement when the brief is more specific: a designed cocktail room, a classic bar with whisky depth, or a newer seasonal venue with a tasting menu. The three options sit in different parts of the arrondissement, so do not treat them as interchangeable.

Danico fits a planned cocktail appointment. It is inside Galerie Vivienne, entered through Daroco restaurant in the evening, and takes online bookings via Daroco. Walk-ins are possible, but the published note is that there may be a wait. For a trade guest with a fixed schedule, booking is the safer route.

The venue was opened in 2016, is owned by Nico de Soto, and lists Corentin Gaudin as head bartender. Europe's 50 Best Bars 2026 ranks Danico at #19, while The World's 50 Best Bars 2025 ranks it at #30. Its daily 5:00 pm to 2:00 am hours make it useful after a late dinner or an evening event.

Harry's Bar Paris is the classic cocktail call. It was founded on 26 November 1911 and is owned by Franz-Arthur MacElhone, the fourth-generation MacElhone family member listed in our data. Its signature cocktail list includes the Bloody Mary, French 75, Sidecar, Boulevardier, White Lady, and Blue Lagoon. The whisky selection is 350+ references, and live music starts from 10:00 pm nightly in the piano bar.

For groups, the rule is practical: walk-ins are welcome, but the venue asks guests to call or message for groups. That makes Harry's a good option when the visitor brief includes heritage, classic serves, or whisky, but it still needs group handling before arrival.

De Vie's is the newer Montorgueil option. It opened in March 2025 and lists Alex Francis and Barney O'Kane as founders. The bar counter is walk-in, while the tasting menu is booked online. It is closed Tuesday, so it should not sit in a weekly plan without a date check. The venue is listed with the Ketel One Sustainable Bar Award 2026.

How should a trade visitor specify a Paris bar brief?

Specify the brief by party size, arrival time, booking tolerance, and reason for the visit. We would not send the same guest to a 12-seat walk-in bar, a whisky-led institution, and a tasting-menu venue without first deciding what success looks like.

For one or two people, walk-in-only can be acceptable if the schedule is loose. Bar Nouveau is the clear example. For four or more people, choose venues with an explicit booking or group route first, such as The Cambridge Public House, Danico, or Harry's Bar Paris for groups.

For product education or category research, match the bar to the category. Harry's is the best fit in this Paris set when whisky depth or classic cocktail history matters, because the venue publishes 350+ whisky references and a list of named house-associated classics. What ordering steps reduce failed visits?

Reduce failed visits by treating the evening like an order: define the requirement, check the rule, confirm the date, then place the highest-risk venue first. In Paris, the highest-risk venues are the smallest rooms and the walk-in-only stops.

First, set the non-negotiables. If the group must sit together, do not start with Bar Nouveau unless the group is very small and flexible. If the guest wants classic cocktails and piano bar music, Harry's becomes the better match after 10:00 pm. If Tuesday is the only available night, remove De Vie's from the shortlist because it is closed.

Second, match the booking rule to the visitor profile. A senior guest with a fixed dinner time should not be exposed to a long uncertain wait where a booking route exists elsewhere. A pair of bartenders doing research may accept that risk because the room itself is the target.

Third, plan the route by time. Le Marais works early because both listed venues open at 3:00 pm. Danico works later because it runs to 2:00 am. Harry's can sit either in the afternoon, after dinner, or late with music. De Vie's is a Wednesday to Monday evening option only.
