MO Bar earns its place in the Asia top ten by treating Chinese cultural history as a drinks brief rather than decoration. The room is industrial-chic rather than plush, the terrace sells the Futian skyline, and Tiger Chang's team builds each serve around a solar term, a traditional pigment, and a technique you can taste. It is Shenzhen's highest-ranked room on our 2026 Asia ranking, and it feels like a destination night out rather than a hotel afterthought. Sit at the bar if you want the shaker work and the menu stories; take the terrace when the city lights are the point.

You enter through UpperHills and ride the Mandarin Oriental elevators to the 79th floor, where floor-to-ceiling glass frames Lotus Hill Park, Bijia Mountain Park, and the Futian CBD. Inside, dark metal, low seating, and a resident DJ keep the energy closer to a late lounge than a quiet hotel bar. The Colours of China menu arrives as acrylic pages you can pull apart, each drink tied to a season and a colour from Chinese art history. Service runs in English and Mandarin, window seats are the most requested and cannot be booked, and guests must be 18 or older.

Start with Lutinus, the tomato-forward spring serve built on house-made tomato vodka and smoky whiskey that Asia's 50 Best singled out as the menu in miniature. Blush pairs rose, strawberry, and guava for a brighter seasonal opener. Turquoise cools with baijiu, cucumber, and plum for summer heat, while Ruby leans into fig and sherry for autumn depth. Canary, a mezcal and mango winter serve, rounds out the easiest tour of the 16 drinks. Tell the bartender whether you want savoury, floral, or spirit forward and they will map you to the right solar term.

The bar sits at Block A UpperHills, No. 5001 Huanggang Road in Futian. From Donggualing metro on Line 10, use Exit E and walk about ten minutes through the UpperHills mall corridor to the hotel lobby, then take the elevators to the 79th floor. Hours are 18:00 to 01:00 Sunday through Thursday and 18:00 to 02:00 on Friday and Saturday. Seating is mostly walk-in, with a limited number of tables available on request by phone or email; window seats are never reserved. Signature cocktails run about ¥128 to ¥138. Arrive early on weekends if you want a terrace table.

Tiger Chang developed the menu after Movable Type, MO Bar's earlier printing-inspired programme, and kept the same research-first approach. Each cocktail links a traditional Chinese colour to one of the 24 Solar Terms, with tea distillations, clarified juices, and edible colour foams doing the heavy lifting. The physical menu mirrors movable-type printing with layered acrylic pages so you read the story before you taste the drink. Chang's CV runs from Mandarin Oriental Taipei through Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, London, Singapore, Bangkok, and Yokohama, which shows in how confidently the team handles both baijiu and classic spirits.

MO Bar sits at No.6 on our 2026 Asia ranking, Shenzhen's highest-placed room, with Obsidian Bar following at No.11. It debuted on Asia's 50 Best Bars at No.21 in 2025, the first hotel bar from mainland China and the first Shenzhen room on that list, then climbed in 2026 as Colours of China replaced Movable Type with a seasonal calendar guests can revisit.
