About this bar
The Hudson Rooms crowns Capella Hanoi in the French Quarter with frosted bronze mirrors, marble, and the glow of a 1920s New York salon. By day it runs as an oyster bar inspired by the Fulton Fish Market; after dark it becomes a spirit-forward cocktail destination with a nightly red-carpet ritual at 21:30 and the invitation-only speakeasy Track 61 hidden inside. This profile covers the Express Line cocktail menu, how to book, and what to order on a first visit.
01
Our verdict on Hanoi's first top-50 bar
The Hudson Rooms earns its place less through novelty than through polish. The room is theatrical without feeling forced, the Art Deco lines and bronze mirrors give every seat a view, and the drinks programme is organised enough that you always know what you are ordering. Nguyen Patrick Ngoc Khanh, World Class Vietnam 2025 champion, leads a team that builds spirit-forward serves with real structure, not just garnish. If you want one night that shows how far Hanoi's cocktail scene has moved, this is it, and the red-carpet ceremony at half past nine is worth staying for.
02
What to expect on your first visit
The bar sits on the top floor of Capella Hanoi, a Bill Bensley-designed hotel steps from the Hanoi Opera House. Walk in through the lobby and take the lift to the rooftop, where frosted mirrors, marble, and warm gold light recreate a 1920s New York salon. Afternoons and early evenings lean oyster bar, with seafood towers, caviar, and Fulton Fish Market energy. After dark the room shifts fully into cocktails, live energy builds toward 21:30 when staff roll out a red carpet for the nightly ritual. Dress smart casual; the crowd mixes hotel guests, local regulars, and travellers who came for the ranking.

What to order at The Hudson Rooms
The current menu, Express Line, maps four New York City subway routes to four cocktail styles. Start on the 42nd Street Shuttle for martinis: the Times Square pairs gin with coriander brine, chilli, and fino sherry, while Bryant Park washes vodka and gin through coconut before bianco vermouth and champagne reduction. The Lexington Avenue Line covers highballs, including the Harlem Renaissance, a rye and coffee highball lifted by black currant and absinthe over tonic. On the Flushing Line, the eponymous Flushing cocktail blends musk melon gin with plum, peppercorn, cucumber, and lotus honey. For something spirit forward, order The Heights on the Broadway-7th Ave Line, a rye and amaro build sharpened with orange bitter liqueur.

05
How the bar builds its New York programme
Head mixologist Nguyen Patrick Ngoc Khanh, World Class Vietnam 2025 champion, runs the programme under bar manager Sean Halse with a kitchen-bar mindset: brines, reductions, and washed spirits sit alongside classic builds. The Express Line menu reads like a subway map because each route corresponds to a different serve style, which keeps the list navigable even when the flavours get bold. The room also hides Track 61, an invitation-only speakeasy reached only by invite and a riddle, where rare whiskies and cigars reward guests who earn their way in. That split between the open rooftop and the hidden room is central to how the bar presents itself.

Why The Hudson Rooms ranks No.47 in Asia for 2026
The Hudson Rooms debuted on Asia's 100 Best Bars at No.86 and climbed into the top 50 at No.47 for 2026, the first bar in Hanoi to do so and the first hotel bar in the city to reach that milestone. Vietnam placed two bars on the 2026 list, with Workshop14 at No.35 named The Best Bar in Vietnam. The ranking recognises a room that combines a distinctive Art Deco identity, a structured cocktail programme, and hospitality that matches Capella's opera-house setting. For Hanoi, which long sat outside Asia's cocktail capitals, that visibility matters as much as the rank itself.
